I am very excited today because during the summer I came across an add that the Safe Haven Pet Rescue center was accepting photos for the annual calendar fund raiser.

It took me two days to look over all the pictures I took of my ‘Sugar” and finally after much contemplation, picked one, sent in my $10.00 entry fee and submitted the photo.

Today I thought I should look it up to see if they were available and YES! They are!

This is my Sugar:

Isn’t she pretty?  She is an albino cockatiel, she is about 9 months old now. She sings all day long, flies around the house and talks to us.  She loves her, “cookies” which are whole grain crackers. That’s not the picture I submitted though.

This is what I was thinking.  I was thinking that this would be an awesome opportunity for everyone out there to actually order a calendar and see what photo I did submit and help with the fundraiser for the shelter.

Perhaps they have a fundraiser as well.

Guess what…an hour later we received the call and it was official: no school.

If you’re sick and tired of taking care of your children, just dump them in Nebraska!  Nebraska actually has a law that you can abandon your child up to age 18 and not be prosecuted…and that’s exactly what a Georgia Mother did to her 12 year old son.

CNN reports that the state of Nebraska plans to change the law to apply to babies up to three days old only, so if you want to dump your child without fear of reprocussion, hurry! This offer is for a limited time only!

Listen, I am not criticizing the mother, whatever her reasons were, they were.  I don’t agree with it, I feel it was irresponsible, but we don’t know her circumstances as of yet and so I just wanted to make note of the law itself.

What an awesome idea! Ice Cream doesn’t only have to be for the warm days! Plus this is an activity everyone in the house can enjoy!  I think It’s important to remain connected to our children these days because they have a lot to deal with.

My little girl came home from school on Friday and insisted she had to go online and vote for the next president! She went to nickelodeon.com Kids pick the president and voted! She voted for Barack Obama!  I wonder why she did this.  Does she really know anything at all about what the issues are or even why she wanted to vote for him?  I realize that the African American community has an enormous influence in this world.  Their culture has changed the face of television, comedy, sports, music, dance and so on.  Thier contribution is never ending, and it is my belief that this is why she voted for him.  When I asked why, she said she was just supposed to.

HHHHMMMMMMMMMM…..Supposed to.

I used to have this saying written on a piece of paper and placed on my fridge.  It said,
“IT’S TIME TO STOP DOING WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, AND START DOING WHAT YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO DO!”   My english professor from Sussex County Community College told us that and it stuck with me. I’ve tried to instill this in the children for their career choices and well, life choices as well.

That got me thinking…why I haven’t I applied this? I was avoiding discussing my choice for president as I stated earlier that I didn’t want to impose my beliefs on who I intended to vote for, but I will say this much, be sure to vote.  My choice is Barack. I have always been a Democrat, we just think alike, have the same values and although I admire the republicans for keeping “IT” in thier pants (Dems have an issue with being faithful which I do not agree with), i feel that President Bush was never a president for the people and now, after 8 years is trying to do something good for us, but too little too late.

Barack Obama may be who we are supposed to support.
